More than 230 of the nation’s best women’s rugby players will compete in the Women’s All Star 7s National Cup this weekend, January 21-22, in Round Rock, Texas. The two divisions are comprised of players representing 88 colleges from 24 states.

The All-Star division consists of 10 teams split into two pools. The defending champion Lonestar Armadillos lurk in Pool A, alongside the Allegheny Bears, Upstate New York Snow Leopards,  Mid-America and the Big Ten. 2022 runners-up, the Midwest Big Green, are joined in Pool B by the Great Lakes, Great Waters, West and South Atlantic squads.

The Small College All-Star division will be contested by eight teams divided into two pools. Defending champion Eastern Penn sits in Pool D alongside the Allegheny Bears, previous winner Colonial Coast and 2022 third-place finisher Northern Lights. Last year’s runners-up, the Great Waters, are in Pool C with the Upstate New York Snow Leopards, Ohio Valley and Rugby Northeast.

For the top division, Saturday is for pool play and Sunday for bracket play, with the top three teams from each pool of five advancing to the final day with a shot at the cup. The winners of each pool advance straight to the semifinals, with the second- and third-place teams from each group crossing over to try and get there. 

In Small College, pool play through the quarterfinals will be played Saturday, with all eight teams making the knockout rounds with a chance at the title. The semifinals and beyond will be contested Sunday.

With addition of new teams like the Big Ten, Great Lakes, Rugby Northeast and West, 2023 will be the largest Women’s All-Star 7s Cup to date. Tune into National Collegiate Rugby’s YouTube channel to catch the action.
