Overview
National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our team as a part-time contractor. This role will be responsible for overseeing core financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for collegiate rugby.
This position is expected to require 4-5 days of work per month, with flexibility for how those hours are scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries within QuickBooks.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Process contractor payroll as needed, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
- Manage cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement).
- Process donations and grants, ensuring proper classification and acknowledgment.
- Manage and track membership dues and related revenue, including reconciliation of payments from platforms like Stripe and Square.
- Oversee event-related financial transactions (e.g., registrations, merchandise sales), leveraging familiarity with Stripe and Square payment processing.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and tax regulations (e.g., 990 filing requirements).
- Assist with the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors.
- Provide financial reports and updates to the executive team as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with a strong emphasis on bookkeeping.
- Demonstrated expertise in using QuickBooks is a must.
- Familiarity with Stripe and Square for payment processing and reconciliation is required.
- Proven experience working with non-profit organizations is highly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for non-profits.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Passion for collegiate sports, particularly rugby, is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- Experience with grant accounting and reporting.
