December 2 - Louisville punched a return ticket to Houston Saturday, felling defending national champion Virginia Tech, 29-22, in the national semifinals at Penn State Berks in Reading, PA. The win avenges Louisville’s loss to the Hokies in last year’s final.
The Cardinals mostly scored through their forwards, and smart play off their lineouts earned Louisville the game. Virginia Tech suffered a yellow card in the first half, which left them vulnerable defensively and allowed the Cardinals to take the lead. The Hokies had an electric final few minutes, scoring two tries putting them back into play, but it wasn’t enough.
After a thrilling display of dominance, the University of Kentucky have punched their ticket, 51 – 12. Kentucky asserted their superiority, showcasing a great blend between their forwards and backs play. With tight defense inside their 22, Boston College could not finish their offensive drives. Boston College finished the match with a try making Kentucky work until the very end.
