National Collegiate Rugby names 2022-2023 Scholastic All-Americans

June 29 - National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) named 760 student athletes as 2022-23 Scholastic All-Americans.  Growing by 60% since last year, the Scholastic All-American list includes 238 women and 522 men from over 148 schools.

This annual program recognizes high performing student athletes across college rugby. To qualify as a Scholastic All-American, student athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year and be rostered for 50% of the Fall 15s A-side matches or rostered for 50% of the A-side Spring 7s tournaments. This selective group of Scholastic All-Americans represents about 1 out of 20 student athletes competing in college rugby.

Over 115 men’s programs recognized Scholastic All-Americans from the past season. Leading the way were Brown University, Babson College and Bowdoin College with twenty or more recipients. Several colleges boasted ten or more Scholastic All-Americans including Georgetown, Dartmouth, Bucknell, Lander, Northeastern, Coast Guard, Michigan, Notre Dame, Richmond and Yale.

The Lee University women named 14 Scholastic All Americans, followed by Kenyon College with 10 recipients. Several schools added nine student athletes to this year’s list including Grand Valley, Salve Regina, Texas A&M, Iowa and Notre Dame. 52 women’s programs were represented in the Scholastic All-American program.

Commenting on this year’s Scholastic All-Americans, CEO Jeremy Treece said “We are excited to celebrate such a large number of high-achieving student athletes this year. Congratulations to this distinguished group of students who have demonstrated a high level of dedication and commitment to scholastic excellence.”
