Seven of the eight quarterfinal slots in Men’s DI-AA have been claimed, with Boston College, Bowling Green and Sam Houston State winning in Saturday’s opening round. Sunday, UNC-Charlotte plays at Kentucky to determine the final bid. 

In Denver, Lone Star champion Sam Houston State escaped a first-round upset, besting Oregon State 22-20. The Bearkats’ prize is a meeting next week with SCRC champion Tennessee in Atlanta. 

At Niagara University in Lewiston, NY, MAC runner-up Bowling Green defeated Liberty No. 2 Babson, 55-3, Saturday in a game delayed by weather. The win sets the Falcons up with a quarterfinal against MARC champion Virginia Tech.

At Pine Banks Park in Malden, MA, Boston College overcame adversity to complete a massive comeback and eliminate West Chester. The Eagles arrived later than expected and fell into a 31-5 deficit before scoring 59 unanswered points en route to a miraculous comeback, winning 64-31.

Sunday, Southern champion UNC-Charlotte plays at SCRC runner-up Kentucky to decide who plays Lone Star champion Texas A&M next week in the quarterfinals.
