National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) is proud to announce the coaching and support staff who will lead the Select Touring teams to the prestigious Algarve 7s tournament in Portugal, June 4–9, 2025. Representing the best of collegiate rugby talent in the United States, one men's and one women's squad will compete against elite international teams in a showcase of speed, skill, and teamwork. The Algarve 7s Tour marks the first of three high-performance programs from NCR this summer, building on the success of the 2024 France All-American Tour.
Head Coach: Dom Wareing A seasoned coach with a rich background in elite rugby, Wareing currently leads Dartmouth Men’s Rugby and serves as the head coach for USA U18 Boys. His resume includes coaching stints with Old Blue RFC, New York 7s, and the USA U23 program. Wareing previously guided select sides to victories at the Elite City 7s and appearances at world-class venues like Twickenham and Thomond Park.
Assistant Coach: Nick Taylor A product of Lindenwood University, where he won two CRC championships, Taylor brings professional playing experience from the MLR’s Seattle Seawolves and Chicago Hounds. Currently coaching at Indiana University, Taylor is eager to help shape the next generation of 7s talent.
Head Coach: Deven O’Crump O’Crump’s playing credentials are world-class—MVP of the 2011 Collegiate National Championship, a 2013 7s World Cup bronze medalist, and a participant in two 15s World Cups. Now a dynamic coach, she leads Georgetown’s women’s club and the Mid Atlantic 7s and 15s All-Star teams.
Assistant Coach: Naya Tapper A living legend of USA Rugby, Tapper is a two-time Olympian and 2024 bronze medalist. As the all-time leading try scorer for USA Women’s 7s, her experience, leadership, and dedication to growing the sport continue to inspire. Tapper brings her unparalleled athletic insight and mentorship to the squad in her post-retirement coaching role.
Strength & Conditioning: Shane Dempsey Dempsey’s mission is to keep the athletes strong, resilient, and injury-free. With extensive experience at Dartmouth, Flight Performance, and across all levels of rugby athletes, Shane plays a crucial role in athlete preparation and performance during the tour.
Athletic Trainer: Kelly Texeira With 19 years of experience, Kelly is a cornerstone of athlete care. She supports teams at Brown University and Central Falls High School, ensuring that players stay healthy and recover quickly through her expert treatment and dedication.
Tour Manager: Mike Geibel Currently the head coach of Wheeling University’s championship-winning rugby program, Geibel has turned the Cardinals into a national powerhouse. With deep experience managing programs and players, Geibel is the logistical and cultural anchor of the touring squads.
