National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) has named 1,284 student-athletes as 2024–25 Scholastic All Americans, a 21% increase from last year’s total of 1,060 recipients. This year’s honorees include 564 women and 719 men representing 220 teams across 177 colleges and universities.
The Scholastic All American program annually recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year and be rostered for at least 50% of the A-side matches during either the Fall 15s or Spring 7s seasons. Representing roughly 1 in 20 college rugby players, this group reflects the academic dedication and athletic commitment that define collegiate rugby at its best.
This year’s list features representation from 126 men’s programs and 94 women’s programs, with several schools standing out for their high numbers of honorees:
Northeastern University led all women’s programs with 22 recipients, followed by the University of Iowa with 16, and Carleton College, Colby College, and Texas A&M, each with 14.
Among men's programs, Brown University topped the list with 29 honorees, followed closely by Georgetown University (27), Dartmouth College (22), and the University of South Carolina (23).
Other standout men’s programs include Bowdoin College (19), University of Richmond (19), University of Denver (17), Bentley University (15), University of Notre Dame (15), and Babson College (14).
NCR CEO Jeremy Treece shared his congratulations, “We are proud to recognize such an outstanding group of student-athletes this year. These young leaders continue to elevate the standard of collegiate rugby through their commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Congratulations to each of them on this well-earned honor.”
