CO School of Mines swiftly grabbed the win in Houston against Sienna 61-5 to secure their spot in the Division III final, scheduled for Sunday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Mines dominated the first half 21-0 with tries from winger Kate Osborn, fullback Piper Lee and number 8 Amy Sessions, complemented by three conversions from Lee. Siena’s flanker Gabriella Jimenez didn’t let that get them down, putting 5 on the board to make the score 21-5.

Center Ayana Mejorado and Lee struck back for Mines, scoring another two tries of their own, once again with conversions from Lee to close out the first half 35-5.

Mimicking the first half, Osborn charged into the try zone to begin the second half, with Lee grabbing the conversion for a 42-5 start to the half. They didn’t stop there as Lee scored yet another try, awarding herself the first hat trick of the weekend and updating the score to 47-5.

Mejorado earned Mines one more try, but not without struggle. The initial call ruled the try unsuccessful, but after a challenge by the team’s coach, the sir ruled the try valid, giving her the chance to score the conversion and take the score to 54-5.

Closing out the match early, Mines increased the score to 61-5 with a try by center Kylie Bogert and conversion from Mejorado. This win earns them a spot in the Division III final against Endicott, set to kick-off Sunday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Siena will face off against East Stroudsburg in the Division III third place match set for Sunday, December 7 at 11 a.m. EST.
