BOYDS, Md. – Yesterday morning, 16 teams embarked on a journey, and they all dreamed of the same ending. While 15 of those teams ended up disappointed, Slippery Rock  saw their dreams become reality as they shut out Denver 17-0 in the Men’s Division III final.

In the semifinals, Slippery Rock dismantled Richmond 27-7 while Denver emerged victorious in a close battle with Springfield by a score of 15-2. In other action, Richmond upended Springfield 33-10 in the Cup third place game while Montana won the Plate with a 28-17 victory against Loyola (MD).  

The Bowl was awarded to VMI who defeated Nichols State 19-5 and St. Thomas claimed the Shield following their 33-12 victory over Susquehanna.

The leading scorers for the tournament were Caleb Chandler from VMI and Patrick Brennan from Montana. Both gentlemen recorded five tries and were successful on eight conversions for 41 points.

The tournament MVP was Zach Herrington, who makes the all-tournament team for the second year in a row, leading Slippery Rock to their second 7s national title in three years.
